The singer, who has captivated France with her delicate voice, was born in 1971 in the Six-Fours-les-Plages commune, which is located not far from Toulon. Elen’s father is Italian, and her mother is Tereza Gasparyan, whose ancestors settled in France during the years of the Armenian Genocide.
The singer grew up without a father and in an Armenian environment. Her maternal grandparents supported Elen and encouraged her to become a singer. They also helped her participate in various events and contests for children and teens. At the age of 16, Elen moved to Paris where she started seriously pursuing her career in music and recorded one of her famous singles “Je vous aime adieu”). Later, she released her first album entitled “Heart of Glass” (“Coeur de verre”). It was already clear that the young female singer was going to have a bright future and great success. She has also performed the famous song “Vivo Per Lei” with Andrea Boccelli.
Segara has participated in different projects, and one of her debut projects can be considered the “Notre-Dame de Paris” performance in which she performed the role of Esmeralda. She received the offer to perform in the musical in 1997 and became an international star.
In 1998, Segara, who has brilliantly performed the role of Esmeralda, received an invitation to perform the famous song “Loin du froid de décembre” in the animated film “Anastasia”.
In 2004, Charles Aznavour entrusted Segara to perform his song “For You, Armenia” (“Pour toi, Armenie”) with an Armenian children’s orchestra during an event dedicated to Aznavour’s 80th birthday in Paris
